bio

Sofia is a latinx artist - actor, singer and composer currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Guatemala and professionally trained in NYC at the acting conservatory The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, Insua has performed on stage, and in front of the camera - in shows such as Law and Order and Orange is the New Black - and her compositions and sound design work has been used in various film and TV soundtracks, as well as in theater (Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research and Schaubude).

Her solo music project aLex vs aLex has also been featured

in KEXP, Billboard, and Remezcla, parallel to on-going music projects, Easy Easy (2017 - presente) y ERA C (2020 - present), for which she’s lead singer and composer for.

Her work's focus is on physical and sonic ways of expression, building emotional connections to hybrid spaces; often in collaboration with Berlin based collective TFIM.

✧ As a recording artist and singer of two bands – Easy Easy and ERA C – she has toured extensively throughout North and Latin America, playing established stages and festivals around the world, such as Baby's All Right, Union Pool and Alphaville in NYC, El Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Caradura, Vive Latino, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Costa Rica, and Hermoso Ruido in Colombia.

She co-wrote the album, Lo Veo Todo (Lo Siento), which was selected as one of the best albums of 2018 in Ibero and Latin America by Noisey x Vice and Shock, and featured in MTV LATAM; as well as the EP 5 (2020), from which the song “Katana” is featured in Netflix’s Gentefied; and the album DELIRIA (2021), from which the track "beautiful" is featured in Warren Miller's film Daymaker.
